Automatic maggot feeder for rivers

Post by Leveller »

Blast from "t good old days" and I can vouch for this,

Works better in the summer for obvious reasons and also in an area where you are not likely so get any traffic of people.

Simple, place a dead rabbit in a tree branch that overhangs any run or swim where you want to fish, all you have to calculate is when the flies lay eggs in the rabbit and the maggot start to trickle into the river, how far down the swim will they hit the river bed, if your after bottom feeders like barbel this makes all the difference.

Don't forget a peg for your nose.

I found a dead sheep hanging by a leg caught in the fork of a tree some 10' above a beautiful barbelly glide on the Wye, unfortunately it was early in the close season because this would have been the trotting swim to have ended all trotting swims :D
