We need to be slightly more organised than the GSC and slighlty less so than the current government!
Agree, and the more group trips we can get in the better. :)

Lovely little fish and much under rated, presumably because of their scarcity. I remember a few wonderful days in the 1970s, fishing a canal like section of Little Britain lake, near Uxbridge (no longer accessible) catching about 50lb of crucians.

I then went more than twenty years without seeing one. Luckily, I have caught two in the last year, only about 1lb each but a beautiful bonus.

Anyone know if crucians shut up shop through the winter? Got a little water nearby and fancy trying for a 3lber sometime over the coming months.

I have had quite a few, but I am fishing with pretty light gear. Not picked up any fishing slightly heavier in the same swim. So tackle must have a bit to do with it. They have definitely continued to feed. However, so have the carp in my local pond.

My joint favourite species along with Tench.

The Ornamental Water in Wanstead Park used to have loads in it in the 80's

I caucaught my PB Cru from there in about 89 I think 2lb 10oz!.

I'm now chasing them in the Epping Forest pond's or will be from 16 June, my biggest from those ponds in 12oz so far.
