Many times a chub has saved me from a blank day on the river and many times when in search of chub as target species they have been conspicuous by their absence, even after hearing passing daytime 'carbelers' complaining of being 'chubed' out of a swim as i set out for a dusk sorte. free lining into a backwater pool, trotting a far bank run or touch ledgering upstream in the near bank undercut have been my favorite methods over the years and stalking several swims with the minimum of gear and thornproof trousers has got me to many places others have avoided, being careful not to make to obvious a path through the foliage so as others could follow and cash in on my baiting sessions with a catapult from the, more accessible, opposite bank

I love chub. Particularly catching them from inaccessible places on simple or freelined natural baits.
Best chub of 2012 at 5lb dead.

Lovely fish!

I'll spend the rest of the season chasing big chub from the Yorkshire rivers. Here's one from the Upper Gt Ouse caught on my Aspindale Avon deLuxe:
