A welcolm tinca

This chunky girl broke a long sequence of four ounce Rudd at a quiet little pool that I rarely have to share with anyone.

Looks like a big one! I love tench pools that don’t have to be shared. 😉

Appearances can be deceptive, the Tench was about two and a half pound ! The net is a very early steel framed folding head fourteen inches in diameter. The float, a Harcork is smaller than average too.

If you’d have said that was over 6 lb I would have believed you! Even if it is small it has a fat belly.

:Thumb: You’re a very honest angler. I would have said that was easily five pounds. Nonetheless a fine capture.

The pool is very old with deep layers of mud and silt.Norfolk reed and reedmace abound. I planted lilys some years ago. Patches of Potamegon and some soft weed too, so all in all a very food rich environment and it shows with the tench as they're all deep bodied and the Rudd too.
