Even without the fish, it looks like it was a fine time.

What makes tench so difficult to catch?
Worry less about who you might offend, and care more about who you might inspire.

In hot weather they seek out deeper water during the daytime and if the shallows don't cool down enough during the night they just sulk there and don't return to the shallows to feed. They just sulk and go off the feed. So at high summer they can be very elusive.
