Advice on perch fishing please...

Hello , I'm looking at fishing a local still water for perch with prawns and small spinners as I have always quite liked worms and do not like using them as bait .......
For a lot of the water I can use a float or a slider float as peviously mentioned for the deeper areas .I was wondering do people tend cast out and leave the bait still or is it better to be moving it about so that the prawn is lifting off the bottom and dropping back ?
If so is it better to twitch it now and again or to keep it constantly on the move ? Thank you .
