There can't be many of those about, did you wear white cotton gloves whilst perusing the pages?

Wow! That is in truly amazing condition.
I bet it was fascinating reading. What was the gist of the article on banning fixed spool reels on a certain venue?

I was extremely worried about handling it to be honest and only read the front cover in detail and had a quick flick through I winced every time I turned a page
I loved the catfish story on the cover landed on such light tackle

I think The Angling Times produced a reproduction of their first edition a few years back on some significant anniversary. 50th or 60th ?
Could it be one of these?

I'm not sure Pete but that would explain the great condition but my friend is under the impression it's an original

I did have the reproduced version at one time but I think it must have gone the same way as so many of my magazines, to the tip.
Can't remember if it had anything on it to identify it as a reproduction but I don't think so.

I have a reproduced version. It has "40th birthday souvenir edition" printed at the top of each page.
