Pre World War ll fishing advertisements from 1934.

Post by Tonytoned »

Hello Everyone

I have picked up another book " WHERE TO FISH" 1934 with some wonderful early fishing advertisements. Please enjoy and peruse at your own leisure.
:tea:

Notice some of the doodling on the first pages, there is some pencil marking inside the book underlining hotels near County Kerry. Ireland

Thank you for your time.

Tony :Hat:

Very intersting , thanks for sharing.
I was drawn to the A. Carter &co advert because I have one of their Dingly made fly reels .
What amused me and prompted me to comment was the managing directors name ...... H Roach :Chuckle:

Interesting to see Homers advertising as makers of the News of The World prize rods. I have one of these that was presented to T H Goodwin for the capture of a 15lb carp in August 1934. It's a 10ft Sheffield style rod with two spliced top sections, one split cane the other greenheart.

Roach moved from the Army & Navy Store to Carters, a very interesting character who will feature in my next book The Dreadnought Casting Reel Company due out this year.

Excellent. Last year I made some quill floats with similar adverts inside the clear quills.

Your welcome to use these if you want. I could copy the advert in better resolution if you needed. :Hat:

Nice to see Hinton's tackle shop advertised. It's the first one I ever visited but long since closed.
