Chris Yates - On Fishing At Sea

Post by Parabolic »

I have just finished reading this superb book and can not rate it highly enough.

If you are not a sea fisher that does not matter, Mr Yates has sea, sky, colours, relaxation and kelly kettle provided tea a plenty, not to mention a bass or two.

Please read it, I'm sure you will enjoy.

My favourite Chris Yates book. I usually re-read it annually when on my summer seaside hols and am having a go at lure fishing for bass. Mine is an early edition when it was titled 'Out Of The Blue'.

I wonder if he is related to Alan Yates, one of the master sea fisherman?

He stands head and shoulder above any other angling writer. He captures fishing as I'd like it to be and even if I can't achieve it I have his books to take me there.

I've read it once and it is very typical of the man, hugely enjoyable and provoking.

I am reading How To Fish at the moment.... A a a great read!
I enjoy sea fishing to.
I have a small open fishing boat turned upsde down on the beach and have a couple of split cane sea rods... I use them with my old Alvey reels. I also have a nice Grice & Young Sea Jecta. At one time Jim Presley the England sea fishing champ was still using his one for Bass. Trotting back a float to the towers of radio Caroline fame off of Herne Bay Kent with a rod I am still after... A Sea Picker.
I know this Forum is for course and fly fishing but were talking about Chris Yates book. I will have to get a copy.

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!
