'Fraid not.
In the chapter, "Roach Baits, baiting up and ground baiting" start on the page with the illustration entitled, "A birds eye view of Mr Muddimers Championship swim in Bishop's Meadow, a back water of the River Soar"
And all will be revealed
John
I'm going to have to come over and read yours.....
Love the book though, think it's going to become one of my favourites

I have dug out my copy purchased in 1960 and have started to read through for the first time
I am looking for more of E Marshall Hardy's books particularly the two volumes of a "Mirror of Angling" published in the late 1930's

Super reminder of this book and yes! I have it downstairs. Amazing how easy it is to forget the books you have. I've got more than one hundred coarse fishing books collected over the years. None have come from the internet, I prefer to discover them in second hand bookshops like Faddists Freshwater Angling in Builth yesterday!
I will re read the roach pages today - thank you.

Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

That is truly inspired!! I bet you're making one aren't you?
My edition of the book doesn't feature that little gem of wisdom, I'll bring it with me next time I'm over.
