Carp Fishing by Richard Walker

I have just managed to win a copy of Carp Fishing by Richard Walker.

I already have the 1960 1st edition but couldn't resist the 2002 2nd edition from The Little Egret Press, released in 2002 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the capture of Clarissa. I'm hoping there will be a few extra chapters in this edition.




It is number 344 and signed by Tom O'Reilly and someone who's signature I cannot make out.

The book arrived today and is in very good condition, it has plenty of photos that were not in the previous edition.

I am still struggling to identify the second signature (the first one is Tom O'Reilly), can anyone shed any light on it.

Mark, had a look on LEP website and can't see the book listed. If no TFF members know,
might be worth giving Tom O'reilly a call at LEP

Have just done that Macko.

The LEP website sometimes removes books no longer available.

Normally a second signature is someone who has contributed to the book. Kevin Clifford wrote the foreword, Pat Marston Walker wrote the introduction and Pat Russell supplied some of the photos.

Lets see if Tom can shed any light, I suppose it could have been signed after if left The LEP.

not knocking lep but they are very hard to get in touch with i used to phone up about books and tom used to answer the phone he seems a nice guy but he doesn't answer anymore just the answer phone plus tried emailing no luck either so sadly I've given up with them now i don't tend to buy books off them unless something really takes my fancy as for the signiture i have no idea

Tom replied back to me this morning with this email.

It looks like Ann Hilton, Jack's Wife, not sure why she would of signed it. Nothing to do with the Little Egret Press when I sold it, so yes a signature added afterwards but a nice interesting touch all the same.

Is the second signature J Hilton Mark? I know it looks as though it starts with an "A" but if you look at it closely it could be a "J" and the second bit "Hilton".

Jack Hilton is my guess. He starts the J low down and then crosses back over it making one assume it's an "A".

Jack died in 1995 KF and this book wasn't issued until 2002.

I very much doubt it was him then.
