Well spotted St John, I have just measured the arms on this Len Arbury design and it actually has 48" arms.

Following on the John Carver and landing net theme, the following net will probably be of greater desire on this forum. John's original landing net. Would you believe the legendary Dr Rex Elgood knitted that mesh for him?

John has had a replica made with a knotless mesh but still sets this one up whilst angling for nostalgic reasons but actually uses the replica to net the fish.

What a great piece of history, Is there a charge to sniff the mesh?

Such a major thing for all carp anglers at the time after the then current record had stood since '52. Never looked into it before but other than Miss Balantine's Salmon record has any other U.K. freshwater record stood as long as Richard Walker's Ravioli?

After all of these years John has finally written the account of netting Chris's fish with the story obviously being told through his own eyes. Of him being so helplessly stuck waist deep in silt knowing it was his responsibility to net what was so obviously the next record carp that was stuck grounded in the mud. Having heard him tell the tale a couple of times I still want to read the words.

Chris Yates's words...
"This was easily the most impressive piece of netting I've ever seen. In his impossible position, John knew that he only had one opportunity to net what was obviously a record fish. One chance was all he needed".
