Thanks for your help on this . I have purchased a strap from Steve which has arrived and looks excellent . The basket is being repaired and I hope to collect it soon and get it back out fishing .

For future reference, secondHand horse harness, is very adaptable to a range of uses. I say second hand, because for traditional items, it already has the vintage look.

I collected the repaired creel today and I am very pleased with the result ! I look forward to using it again soon ( but perhaps not as a seat ! ) The excellent strap came from Steve so thanks to him as well !
I had the work completed by Christine Llewellyn from West Sussex . I cannot recommend her highly enough should you need any wicker repairs .
