A welcome surprise...

Post by Aitch »

Last November as you know, I lost my Mum and whilst visiting the funeral director's to finalise arrangements, I met one of our fishing club members, Mick Arbon, Mick was sorting out the funeral arrangements for his dear wife, and we chatted about fishing, for a little light relief from the onerous tasks that we both had to endure... now Mick is well into his 80's and a wonderful soul with a mischievous chuckle, well today we both got out on the bank for a club outing and on meeting him he reminded me that we talked about old tackle and how he had something in his box for me....

A moment's rummaging in his carryall and he produced these two little gems, little brass bait boxes

Both need the hinges repairing, but I shall get them done locally... now here's a question... should I leave them as they are or polish them up...?
Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home

Very nice Harry I'd leave them as they are :Thumb:

They are lovely.....what a terrific gesture from old Mick. I'd leave them as they are, nice bit of patina gives them some provenance.

Leave them. They'll just look new if you polish them up. They look lovely as they are.

What a lovely gesture. I would leave them just as they are and handle them as much as you can to keep that finish/patina.

What fantastic boxes and a lovely present. I'd go with the majority and leave them as they are.
