Handmade rod rests

Post by Pinkster »

Having recently acquired a bundle of bamboo canes from the Mother-in-law,,,I was struggling to come up with a use for them.
They sat in the hut for a couple of months before I happened to read an article somewhere,,,and lo and behold,, an idea!
Bamboo rodrests!
I messed about with different "head" ideas and finally settled on the more natural approach. I scoured around a local wood and found some natural fall branches that had suitably sized forks in them. Dried them out, stripped them, whittled a bit and come up with what you see below.
I hope the meet with approval.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable,
a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

Pinkster,
My firm order is placed for 2 of them. I look forward hearing from you that they are on the way.

You might consider a triple crimp at the bottom Pinkster. Easily done with the spanner of a drilling machine. That would give more stability.
