The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!

Agreed! Great video. I find it especially interesting since pole fishing is relatively unknown in the US. I'm not sure why either....

Excellent Fred, thanks for posting.
Had some enjoyable days myself fishing with dave Swallow, had no idea he knew Jack.

Although it's about the evolution of fishing, nothing changes. The film could have been made yesterday. Great to watch :-)

Brilliant Fred - you have captured the quintessential magic of TFF. I could never in a hundred years have found that video on my own, yet you provided it and took me back to being a teenager watching JH on TV and wondering how on earth I could catch fish like he did. A beautiful programme by a master broadcaster. Thank you for a very special 23 minutes!!
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

Great to hear that one of Jack's old friends, on his deathbed, reckoned to have had, according to his fishing diaries, just 'one good day in four'. Cheers me up when I think of all my blanks, especially at Letton Dave Burr!
