Slater 4" Wood & Brass Centrepin Reel

Post by Mark »

Here are some pictures of my 4” Slater reel in wood and brass. The inscription on the back of brass plate states XXX II, this might be the service history, so I think the reel may be older than 1932. I was informed that it was possibly made by Smith and Wall.

A lovely reel and fantastic looking condition but do you use it?

There has been many a chub that has succumbed to the charm of this reel and even the odd carp. I have not used it for some seasons but you have now rekindled its place from my bookshelf to my creel, next weekend it will be laced with 100 yards of fresh line. It may even take a journey to see old Izaak on the 5th.

I like heavy, My F.T Williams "The Dorset" rod is pretty heavy and I love it.

Would love to use one of these reels on that rod. :D
