Monster Centrepin reel

Good afternoon gents.
Can anyone help me identify this reel?
It is 6 inches in diameter and made of alloy and brass.The only markings on it are 217 and the letter W.This makes me think that it was a production reel,but I have no idea whether the W is the makers name.
Any help would be appreciated.

Looks vaguely like a Harlow type reel or a forerunner.

The back does.The front of the reel is quite plain.
