Re: Any ideas please
Sorry I cannot help, It definitely looks like a "one off" not like anything I have seen before. The reel foot is fixed in an unusual way, maybe some one else knows more?

I agree with Ted. Definitely has, what I call "engineer reel" look about it.
Who ever made it knew what he was doing though. Nice find.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Somebody made this reel as a hobby proberly in their dinner hour at work or having a lathe at home
I used to make all my reels in spare time at work or fit pieces in with other project work.Reelmaker

Re: Any ideas please
That does indeed look like a 'night shift' reel made when the supervisors weren't about...particularly as it seems to have no check, ...springs and pawls being a different discipline to lathe turning.......

Re: Any ideas please
It does have a couple of similarities to the reels I have seen which are attributed to Arthur Crompton, maker of the Kenny Kendal reels. The winding handles and screws are the same plus the rounded heads on the line pillars. It may of course simply be a one off made to order.
A couple of pics below of some of my Kendal reels. The Aerial shown came with no winding handles originally, I had these new ones made and fitted by Garry Mills.
