Closed face reel spools?
Hi guys, I have a couple of spools I think from a closed face reel which were amongst a load of fly fishing goodies given to me by my pal Muscavado. I have no use for these spools so if anyone would like them please let me know and I will send them foc.
Dimensions and pics as follows:
Bottom dia 45mm
Top dia 43mm
depth 15mm
internal dia 18mm

They're very similar to the ABU 601 series spools even to the locking rings inside the spool!

Re: Closed face reel spools?
Thank you Jeremy for the spools. They do have exactly the same fitting as the ABU Diplomat 602M I have. They actually fit on the reel!
However the diameter is smaller by about 5mm for both the top and the base!
So anyone know an ABU reel smaller than a 602M with push on spools?
I will forward the spools FOC as Jeremy did for me - to someone who would like/use them!

There was also a Diplomat 844, I have one that is incomplete so I don't know how good they are.

I still have the spools on my desk!
They could be for an ABUMATIC reel?

Re: Closed face reel spools?
Was the 602 the same size as the 601 Olly?
I had a silver 601 years ago it was tiny compared to the old 500 series.
Most admit I was not a fan of the 601 diplomat
The line used to bed in like crazy being a smaller spool size.

Sorry I do not know!
I only use the reel I have for catching small fish - under 1lb preferably!
