Hi, I've just watched an 8-80 one of these sell for £51 on EBay, so I think some one else is desperate to complete their collection, lol, as I bought two of the 8-80's, one still in it's box, and the other perfect, for £15, again on EBay?

Ha! I just mentioned this on another thread. I couldn't believe the price it went for but, when all's considered, its not a bad price for a useful reel ..... if you can't cast properly :)

A good set, nice one.

http://closedsearch.auctions.yahoo.co.j ... %93/24698/

Manufacturer is Ueno Seiko (roughly translates as "Acme"). I'm guessing the brand changed names after the '64 Olympics and the shame ridden "Foreign" dropped for "Made in Japan". By the by there's an 8-120 doer-upper on ebay right now http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BYGONE-VINTAG ... 1441397364? grab it quick, yeah right.

That's not a doer upper, it's a scrapper, it's got holes in the rim, not to mention, by the time you have removed all the rust, there will not be much left :Hahaha:

nickm you beat me too it ,I did mean to post something earlier in the tread about angler reels being either Olympic or another brand from the same company UENO SEIKO CO (part of the Seiko group that make the watches ,They appear to have copied many reels/tackle etc from other western companys after ww2) theres been a few Olympics version of the side caster (which might of been a copy of a old alvery sidecasting reel) .good find on the info .they "UENO" SEIKO may also of produced the Fuji brand amounst others to copy much wanted western product .a practice not uncommon today in china/tiwan .

and as speculated the logo that appears to be a number eight ,might be a figure 8 raceway (UENO SEIKO may of sponsored a local team or owned the raceway) the trophy in the logo only appears on a few items denoting a championship winning year.
I try to be funny... but sometimes I merely look it! Steve
