That's a cracker, Sir ... I have two ... one in gold and one in silver grey.

Why did they stop making reels that are pretty to look at. Modern plastic reels just dont have the lines, looking more like something of star trek than a fishing reel. I have quite a few Intrepids, or Morritts, but I don't have a Monarch. Picked up a black prince at a car boot the other day, £1.

I tend to agree ... but the gold has a certain '60's psychedelic charm ... well ... to those of us who can at least remember some of the '60's !!! :Wink:

Only just managed to take some pictures of my mint in box Morritts 'intrepid'. I love the handle design. I've not fished with it yet, I'm toying with the idea of putting it away and buying a one in lesser condition as a user reel. Shame the bail is a bit primitive, still, it adds to the look of the reel with the trigger grip and rubber stopper.
