just a little tip for altex uses ,if your bailarm slams shut with a bit of a clunk ,you can fit a bump stop. The bailarm when it closes comes too rest (with a clunk) onto a lug on the side of the drum .simply glue a bit of cork ontop of the lug ,problem solved .
take a small roughly triangular bit of cork and superglue (it can be removed later if needed) it on to the top of the lug & Trim to shape & to around 3-4mm .
in use it'll find its own level
(to remove / replace ,slice off with blade. Heat the lug area till glue softens and scrape off )

That's not a bad idea and I may just do that. Mine shuts with quite a wallop. I some times think the fish must be able to to hear / feel it because it's so loud!

i'm surprised hardy didn't fit one ,it would of been easy enough to have drilled the lug and had a little peg with felt or leather top that you could replace when worn.

A good idea Steve....they close so forcefully that they knock a dent in the pear-shaped spring cover and then the bail arm goes too far back.
