Roach Poles - setup and use

Post by Stathamender »

Can anybody give me a link resources about traditional methods of setting up and using roach poles?

Dear Stathamender

Look no further than the truly wonderful book Poles Apart The History of the London Roach Pole by Michael Nadell.

This work contains just about all the information needed, and more besides, that you will ever need. It really is very comprehensive and a very fine and interesting read in its own right (write!).

Not cheap to buy at around the thirty five quid mark but a worthy entrant into any fishing book collection.....it's that good!

You could also try viewing the first episode of The Compleat Angler a Dvd and telly series with Geoffrey Palmer and Rae Borras, which features Michael demonstrating how to fish with a London Roach Pole on his private pond. The cakes in this episode are good too :Thumb:

Hope this is helpful?

As ever,.....

Thanks for this. And, coincidentally, that episode is available on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBzlBuDnWL0 with Swedish sub-titles.

I think this http://www.nadellpatisserie.com/ might be the reason for the cakes.
