Refurbished Allcocks Popular

Post by Evert van der Plas »

This Allcocks pin did have a few problems but all parts where there, i cleaned the reel from dirt, oxide , first with water and soap and after that i used Scotch-Brite pads to remove the oxide, polished the parts with Brasso and fill up the pitting with metal epoxy and when that was dry i sand it by using a wooden stick with a small stroke sanding paper glued on there to make it easier to sand between the pillars
An other reel is saved from the bin i think

A fine job sir, your workmanship has done the reel true credit and what a wonderful invention that metal proxy is, I have used it myself. Certainly now looks like it has come straight out of the box, instead of thirty fathoms down!
The good angler is not the one with expensive equipment. Common sense, observation and trying to realize
what is happening above and below water will catch fish no matter what price equipment you fish with.

Superb as always Evert. And thank you for giving us a little insight into how you achieve such beautiful results.

I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Wonderful job but tell me evert, what do you do with them when you've finished?
I have laid aside business, and gone a'fishing.
