Refurbished the Hodder by Albert Smith
Hi Gents
This Hodder was send to me for a good clean up and to remove a wobble, First removed all parts that where removable, some screw where very tight and would course more damage then good to remove them so i let them in.
there was still paint on it but not much, removed it with paint stripper and after the paint stripper did the job i cleaned it with fine steel wool.
the dark stains in the metal removed with fine sanding paper and after a few rounds polishing with cots brite and brasso it start to look nice.
The line pillars i took out to clean them and made a planning board to replace them later when all was cleaned up.
This was a nice project and hope to find one for my own collection

The Wobble was a serious problem be course there was a hair crack at the rim, i used two pieces brass strip on every side on the spot from the wobble and put it between a vise and try to press the wobble out, The wobble is still there but less then it was. it is the only way to do it. Bending is not a option with this kind off metal, it will brake in pieces at once when you try. seen it before and after that it is game over for the reel.Shed_Monkey wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2017 9:29 pm Brilliant as ever - how did you remove the wobble?
