Now that is a setup that cannot be bought, a superb job Evert, the reel is one of a kind and I doubt anybody with the exception of another poster on here ( wonder who ? ) could replicate.

First results from the second reel i start on
it will be smaller then the other reel,
Wooden backplate with inlay
Far from finished off course but going the right way

Impressive job so far
I am interested in the choice of wood for making a reel - do you need to select a particular cut such as quarter sawn timber to prevent warping in the future? Are there some woods which are a better choice than others?
