Harrods of London fly rod

Post by Keston »

Would anyone have information as to whether Hardy made rods branded for Harrods ?
I bought a little 7ft brook fly rod this morning . The butt is engraved Harrods Ltd London W and carries the serial number 1265 .
It is a delicate little thing ,sadly it looks to have lost some of the tip and the tip is also soft , the butt ring is also missing.
The reason for asking about the Hardy connection is because the lovely old chap selling it felt this was the case .
The tip eye is a wonderful little thing and the guides quite unusual too.

I can't say with any certainty but I wouldn't be surprised if Hardy were Harrods supplier of choice. The fittings look the right quality to me. A lovely thing 👍
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Thank LL . The fittings do look and feel quality , it was only £3 or maybe £4 so worth buying .

Everything points to Hardy as the maker I would suggest. Spiral lock joint, green whippings and clear agatine tip ring

Thanks AllRounder.
I can't find any information about it . I would imagine this was quite a nice rod back in its day .
