How many wrongs...

Post by LuckyLuca »

Make it right?
Or as I nearly titled this, do you love a mongrel?
The rod has so many defects I don't know how it hasn't been stripped for parts. A carboot find only costing pennies which wormed it's was into my user collection.
When I brought it home my first thought was to put it together to check the ferrules. Put together the rod felt quite nice despite the huge difference in section lengths. An inch or two off the tip isn't unusual, a foot off the middle?? Yet it felt nice. Add a reel nicer still. Millwards on the butt cap and lovely dark split cane hinted at quality. Shadows on the cane said it started life looking very different indeed.
So it visited the bank. Accounting for several weighty carp with ease.
Purchases of more mainstream rods saw this slip further back in the pecking order until a recent tidy up brought it back to mind.
So this week, this ugly duckling will be with me trying to tempt some Thames chub.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Oh dear! Perhaps it's just me after all.

I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

It's certainly is an unusual design but if it works - go for it.

Exactly Dave.

A couple of pictures of her on the river bank yesterday.
