Don Neish Rod ?

Post by Ljm183 »

Just read somewhere that Don Neish (Dons of Edmonton) worked at J. Pales Fishing Tackle Specialists 20 Station Road, Wood Green, London N22. sometime in the mid 50,s

I have just bought a rod Badged ..... J. Pales......and on the butt section is the name Don written in ink.

Could it be a rod made by Don ?

The rod is called " The Sheffield " @ 10 1/2ft. ..... 2 Piece Round cane butt and tip with spliced split cane

That's a lovely looking rod Lee
Have a look at the link below of my Surfcaster,it looks like he got his labels made at the same place as his previous employer and he also like the design. I don't see why your thoughts are not correct. :Hat: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=8895&p=124462&hili ... on#p124454
There are three things that improve with age: wine, friendship and water sense, and there's no short cut.

Hi Lee, I have a Don's of Edmonton cane carp rod and the "Don's" writing looks very much the same as yours. We will have to meet up and compare?

All the best,
Ted

Thanks for the link Harry :Thumb:

It makes a very nice small river trotting rod, nice and light in the hand. Just have to find a small river local with some fish in. :holmes:

Looking really good Lee!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.
