Eggington of Merton

Post by Penninelad »

As previously stated I have recently acquired a 9' two piece fly rod by this maker in condition as new. I have now used it three times and caught one fish on in and it is perhaps the best balanced split cane fly rod I have used(I have other fly rods by Aspindales, Edgar Sealey, Alcocks, Poolsons, Milwards & Martinez & Bird) ,even better than my James "Ian Wood". The quality of finish is very good and the fitting of high quality.Does anybody else on the Forum use an Egginton rod ? I know from information on another site that they ceased production in 1972.

I have an Eggington 10ft 6" Avon type rod with a detachable handle and two equal sections ( similar in design to a chapman 500) I bought a second lighter top section from Chapmans of Ware. It is a lovely rod, they were a quality maker!
