Please identify my latest purchase

Hi
I have just picked up a cheap e-bay job lot. The rod I was mainly interested in has no marking except for on the alloy butt cap/rubber button. The alloy is Stamped "OGDEN SMITHS" then under that "LONDON.S.W". It also has a number 2 stamped on it.

The rod is three piece and approx 12ft long. The butt section is whole cane, the middle section is two pieces of whole cane spliced together, the tip starts as whole cane and has a split cane tip spliced in. The whippings are green.

Looking at it more closely I wonder of the whole cane sections may actually be reed? Does reed have nodes?

Any help great fully received.

Cheers

It looks very nice, a roach rod, it is whole cane, not reed.
A quality rod by a quality maker, nice find, well done :Hat:

It does look a nicely proportioned rod and as Paul said, a quality maker.

For the record/posterity it weighs in (according to my kitchen scales) at 11.8oz. I think this is destined to be a fine roach rod :-)

A 12ft cane rod under 12 ounces is very good. Possibly hollow bored in the larger diameter cane sections.
