Ogden Smith's 14ft rod

Post by AshbyCut »

Oh ... the dangers of mixing a certain internet auction site and a bottle of Tanqueray !!!

This was newly listed this evening on a 'buy it now' ... so I did !!! Well ... I'd always promised myself a rod by this maker.

It's an Ogden Smith's 14ft., 3 piece (but with the extra tip present), 24 inch handled, split cane salmon fly rod in it's original maker's bag. It's distinguished by the locking, spigotted ferrules ... and a little net surfing suggests that it's probably a 1920's or 1930's salmon rod.

I won't know the overall condition until it arrives, of course ... but from the photographs it looks remarkably good. Time will tell.

Anyone out there with a catalogue ?????
