Gents,
What I thought was an Aspindale 892 made its way into my possession today.
Closer inspection and I'm not so sure. It clearly says The Aero 892 but the name looks more like Falcon Redditch than anything else. Any thoughts chaps?
Is it an Aspindale?

Is it an Aspindale?
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Re: Is it an Aspindale?
Aspindales were known to produce rods for others to label & sell, inc Falcon?

I seem to remember a tff member saying there was a family connection between Johnsons and Aspindales but cant find it now. It did make sense as the rods were even numbered the same.

Re: Is it an Aspindale?
I still haven't been able to solve this one. I'm pretty sure the Falcon rods from Denmark are by a different company in Denmark, but the Falcon of Redditch eludes me still.
I did try to contact Tony Croft, but got no reply.
I'm still leaning towards the ex-employee thing with an Astwood Bank address....
You see before Tony Croft joined Aspindale they had bought their ferrules in from ....Ken Johnson of Astwood Bank. When Tony joined them as well as going on the road with Peter Aspindale as a salesman, Tony also took over the ferrule making which he had learned at Allcocks.
It just may be that in losing the work of ferrule making, Ken Johnson had somehow come to Aspindale to work for them. Certainly they were having huge success with their rod range at this time which is why they had placed the advertisement that Tony had answered.
You'll see that at this time Peter Aspindale was not involved in rod making at all, neither was he when Tony and he re-formed Aspindale in later years, once again working in the office. It was only after he and Tony parted ways that Peter apparently made rods at all.
For such a short-lived firm Aspindales has been one of the trickiest to follow.
