I never handelled a Capella, but I believe it is one of their spinning rods, perhaps the de-Luxe had all lined rings?

Here's an interesting conundrum.

About 18 months ago I bought a 10ft 6in rod that looked very much like a MARCO Test. When I got it I found that the handle was quite unusual. It was thick (about 1 3/8" dia), 20" long with aluminium furniture. The handle was waisted about 6" up from the button and the reel bands could only slide on this short section. There was no evidence of any modification to the handle so I'm sure that this was the original configuration.

I know that some 50s rods were designed to be fished with the reel around the middle of the handle to give better balance, but the reel on this rod would have been in a similar position to that on a double handed fly rod. Has anyone else come across a Test with a handle like this or have I indeed got a salmon fly rod?

There's no evidence of a label on the rod so it might not be a MARCO.

I have 10'6" Test, Sean and it does indeed have a huge thick handle, but it is parallel.

The reel rings on mine do'nt go far up the handle; about 2/3rds if that! !!

Did Marco ever make a fibreglass fly rod other than the salmon rod mentioned below?

I would quite like an 8 foot fly rod made in Bromley.

I have this Tony Fordham carp by Marco. It's a lovely rod to use. I'd like a can carp rod but I'd need to sell a kidney to get it past the wife at the minute.
It's odd because it has a 30inch handle. And none of the rings are lined.

Thanks Nobby and Big Fish. Everything points to it being a Test so maybe some were made with the reel bands in this position. Strange....

"Rover"?
Though I always thought that style of "R" was lower case.
