The Paul Cook Medway

Post by Mushy »

You may have noticed that I snapped up a Medway, rennovated by Paul Cook, recently. Well I collected said rod direct from Paul last week and I must say what a superb job he has done on it, the whipping and finish is spectacular. The rod will be a pleasure to use, hollow built so not too heavy, good length handle and a perfect action to land a tench or two, I hope !

It was great to meet Paul and a nicer chap you couldn't wish to meet, many thanks Paul.

Hopefully these two photos show the quality of Paul's workmanship.

Lovely rod Richard, I really like that red/black speckled thread.
I have worked on one of Pauls renovated rods and I know what you mean about the superb finish. I remember it took me nearly a fortnight and at least 12 coats of varnish to get the rod section I was working on anywhere near to his original finish.

Superb, but then Paul's work always is!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

That looks absolutely wonderful ... and gives us poor amateurs something to aspire to.

Excellent choice of colours. I'd be over the moon with that.
