Bernard Venables

Post by Mark »

Bernard Venables was born on this day in 1907.

I think a special toast is called for this evening.

where you find only elder trees, nettles and dreams. (BB - Denys Watkins-Pitchford).

Toast is good but maybe a glass of something to wash it down with. :Hahaha:
Bernard, wherever you are, I salute you sir. :Hat:

Bernard was synonymous with the true sprit of angling and my greatest inspiration after my father.........

By all accounts not only a Gentleman, but a Gentle Man, who left a legacy for generations. :Hat:

I shall be in the middle of the North Sea so I will raise a rum to old BV.

So proud to have met the great man and be included in the same photograph with him on the launch of the 'Red Letter Days' book. We all donated our work for the proceeds to go to Bernard to help get him back into a cottage after being moved out of the home he had lived in for years.

Certainly one of angling's all time greats for what he actually did for angling.

I shall certainly raise a glass in his honour this evening and promise to do my best to honour his memory. :Hat:
