Allcocks match aerial ...

Post by Keston »

Evening Chaps
I got very lucky last week . I took a chance on a non functioning Allcocks match aerial for a good price .
Gary Mills worked some magic and I ended up with an unused boxed match aerial for average user money .

She's a beauty Paul . ... I had a couple of very long chats with Gary. It has a few marks but mostly under the paint . He felt it left the factory like this and it was his suggestion it had never seen a rod .
It amazes me that reels survive 50+ years in this condition . It could well be that it had a running issue from new which just led to it sitting in the box .

Thanks Wal ... the box is good, just some minor patches of discoloration , the four top corners rubbed and one edge of the base starting to part .
The reel had a really odd problem it simply wouldn't spin more than 5 turn and would them just stop . All Gary found wrong that might have cased it was a slightly loose hub . He just stripped it all down and rebuilt it and she was fine .
Even really tatty ones sell well so I didn't imagine I would ever have one . It may be rather hard for me to ignore it's value though and keep it .

Blimey, that's museum standard. Congratulations.
