Hi all!

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself!
Looking to get into some traditional coarse fishing this summer and rekindle my childhood love of float fishing!
Im new to centre pin fishing so any advice and tips appreciated.
Recently purchased a TFG Classic reel as was told it was a good starting point.... I haven't purchased a cane rod yet as I don't know a lot about them so was just thinking of using a 12ft float rod for now.

Hoping to fish for tench, bream, roach etc and a bit of occasional spinning for pike and perch.

Im from Suffolk so any recommended spots in or around the county?

Thanks

Tom

Welcome!

Suffolk is one of my favourite places for fishing, dating from my time at Essex University in the late 60s/early 70s. Just about anywhere along the Stour is good (we've had quite a few discussions about the Stour here so check the site via search) although you'll probably need to join a club to do that. There's a lot of out of the way lakes and gravel pits around your area (including some old estate lakes and farm ponds) so check locally where you are, starting with Google Maps. Some of the older ones may not have been fished for decades, although I understand agricultural run-off has caused quite a few problems down your way in recent years. Joining London Anglers will give you quite a bit of access: Bures Lake - a classic tench water - is a favourite of mine (I started the new season there last year and will do so again this year) and they also have bits of the Stour there; there's a complex of lakes and river fishing at Glemsford (this is technically in Essex as it's S bank) and odd bits of the Stour here and there (Clare, Cavendish and Henny). There's also places nearby in Cambs (including Hemingford Grey) and Essex and some very good fishing on the Great Ouse, if you're prepared to travel that far. It may not seem immediately obvious but an LAA card can be very good value in East Anglia, see: http://www.londonanglers.co.uk/.

What is your favourite word?
I suspect it could be “love”, despite its drawbacks in the rhyming department.

Welcome aboard Sir, plenty of advice on here, are you actively looking for a cane rod? :Hat:
