Hello from Yorkshire
Hello everyone,
I have read with interest the great posts on this forum for a number of years and indeed they are most probably responsible for me rediscovering the real joys of fishing again. After 35plus years of angling I was becoming increasingly disillusioned with modern angling approaches, and attitudes, to the point where i decided to re-evaluate what i wanted to get from my fishing. I noted on this forum people were polite, friendly and most importantly seemed to enjoy themselves whilst fishing: all qualities which are somewhat lacking in much modern day angling, but are all the things I value.
I bought a cane rod....... and didn't look back. I've now got 5 and can see that number increasing over the next year (I enjoyed the last Mullocks sale so much I'll be back in March). I always liked centre pins and had a small collection but dont they look so much better attached to a piece of cane.
I look forward to contributing to the forum but until then may i wish you all a very merry Xmas and the very best of fortune in the New Year.
Paul

Welcome to the TFF, Paul!
You've come to the right place.
Any chance that you might show us your rods and reels?

A hearty and seasonal welcome, Sir.

Re: Hello from Yorkshire
Good-day and welcome, I'm from "Gods Own" originally myself. Then the fishing was dire in the industrial West Riding, the rivers foamed with detergent at the bottom of weirs and the colour changed dependent on what colour they were dying that day. The only organic life I ever saw in the Calder were recently drowned pigs that had escaped the slaughter house and jumped in and drowned!
My recent trips up t'north to see the aged Matriarch, I find a great looking river, with justifiably optimistic fishermen on its banks.
Who says things never change for the better.
