I'm new here...hi
Thought that I would say hello to everyone. I live in Basildon Essex and have had a break from fishing for about 3 years, but now back. Fish the local lakes but I love fishing moving rivers, one of my favorite being the Kennet (love Barbel) at the old mill Aldermaston. The drive for home is horrendous but hey ho.
Lived in Tottenham as a boy and the Lea Valley was my home. Kings Weir, Dobbs Weir, Crown Fisheries, etc all mainly on the River Lea and surrounding Gravel Pits were my local fishing places. Like using old tackle especially centre pins, have a Rapidex, Avon Royal Supreme and a more modern J.W. Young "Purist 11" 2046. A few Mitchell 300's and a Mitchell Match complete the old reel collection. Rods are old fibre glass but looking to buy a couple of lovely split canes in the near future.
I love classic Mercedes cars hence the forum name...So that's me

Welcome Mercman. When I used to make the long drive to the Kennet (from North London) I always made sure I had either a C.A.L.P.A.C. or R.& D.A.A. membership book in my rucksack so at least I knew I'd have a great choice of swims when I arrived. Good luck with the bamboo hunting!
