Another new member.
Hello, my name is Richard Osborne, originally from Kent where I spent my early teens fishing the River Medway around Tonbridge through to Golden Green. My fishing dwindled away in my mid 20’s whilst I moved away from Kent to Nottingham, got married, started a family and worked on my house. I took my two lads fishing now and then but they were not really interested. Now that one has left home and the other is more interested I now find myself fishing more often and still enjoy it as much as I did then.
Now in Nottingham I fish mainly on the Trent at Attenborough. Although I do like the idea of fishing with a cane and pin on the River Erewash. The River Erewash is small river, which used to be quite polluted but is now much improved and apparently stocked with barbell and grayling.
I am a traditional fisherman in the sense that I still use the same rod I used when in my teens, which I often stripped down and re-whip with new eyes. I only ever fish with one rod, normally ledgering and always with a tin of sweetcorn. I’ve never really taken to modern techniques, maybe I am lazy but I like to fish in a simple way and enjoy my surroundings. I cannot say that I have caught any monsters but have caught many good quality fish.
I would not normally join a forum, but reading the posts they all appear to be really friendly which makes it a nice place to visit.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

A hearty welcome, Sir.
