unexpected outing

Post by TrentFisher »

So today was an early start had to be at work to open up for contractors ...asbestos work!

All went well which meant an earlier finish than expected for yours truly so lets go fishing!

I had a plan to try and catch some perch making a change from my recent roach trips on the Trent.

It would be my usual 3-4 hour session.Tackle was a 9ft Farlows Holdfast spinning rod which I wanted to try out in some tight swims. As the swims are around 8ft deep I chose use a sliding float set up,fished with worm on the hook and feeding red maggot.Reel a Grice and Young ,,,name badge is missing ?

First cast I was into a good fish which managed to find a snag and was lost.
Soon after a fish close to a pound was netted and followed by three others .As the afternoon moved on the tally grew and it was soon time to go.
It was a most enjoyable few hours shared with fish but also dragon flies and kingfishers at close quarters......

All the fish were caught within 12 feet from the bank.

Many thanks for reading

Many thanks Gents,
The rod rest came from a local park ,there are many hazel which are just left to do there own thing. It was cut about half a mile from where I live and about the same distance from where I was fishing.
I really like the size of the V as it will allow the line to run freely if I ledgering and using silver foil or a bobbin.

Regards
Nige.
