And now Grovehurst will see a rush of anglers trying to catch it again
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

A great fish - pity it escaped before any better photos were taken.
If it avoided being caught for the last few decades I don't think more anglers fishing for it will mean it will be caught again.

Julian, that's if it has been there for decades. Who knows just where these creatures go.

I understood that while eels are known (and have been filmed) moving over land - through wet grassy area or tiny ditches, etc, that they can only do this when they are relatively small. I doubt eels of 5lb plus move over land but I might be wrong.
I thought one of the reasons that they do grow big in pools/lakes is that they become landlocked and can live very long.

I don't know, but I'm interested. Can anyone confirm this?

Wow what a beastie! I have been after a really big eel for years I love em, having had them up to 4lb 10oz....I landed one on opening day five years ago at 6lb 10oz together with a 26lb 12oz common......I was more chuffed with the eel. One of the waters I fish regularly does 7's and 8's............
