Re: New Record Eel
I can remember reading something along those lines......not sure that it was JS, but a good bet....the man was Mr Eel

I don't know the place whether it is busy or not but it will certainly boost the takings at a wild guessMerlot wrote:You bet Loop and the circus begins, roll up roll up........Loop Erimder wrote:And now Grovehurst will see a rush of anglers trying to catch it again
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

Re: New Record Eel
It was John Sidley who wrote that but eels definitely get repeat captured. I have recaptured more than one with distinctive marks as well as other hook wounds.RBTraditional wrote:John Sidley?Bjp wrote:i once remember an article on eel fishing that the author stated he had never as far has he was aware had a recapture of an eel and he felt that once they had been caught and returned they seem to dissapear for ever, wish i could remember who it was

Re: New Record Eel
What a beast! 60-80 years of age is very impressive . There was a great program on BBC R4 today about the life & plight of the eel in our British waters.
Re: New Record Eel
Ten years for every pound they say on a water with natural food, not pellets or crayfish. This unfortunate capture was never entertained by the record fish committee due to the fact it was a foot shorter than the record....I needn't say any more. During the summer months I almost exclusively fish for eels, well the past two seasons anyway. The ultimate challenge in my eyes.
