Loop , Andrew showed me your Craftversa when I dropped my Arun off to him on Saturday . It's a lovely rod indeed and sure to give you many hours of pleasure .

This specific rod I reckon is probably the most mentioned on this forum . From the quality photos we see the beauty for Loop alongside those superb pics of Mr BV with his too..

I guess this rod from would be an allround Avon style rod , pretty versatile and maybe ...a sublime TInca machine?

Was it the case that 11ft two piece in 1962 was unusual ...whose idea was it ? Did BV have involvement with its development?

Pretty unusual, yes...I can only think of the Aspindale two-piecers ..the 893 and 894 that are similar. All are long, through-action rods that cast a light line well and will protect it too. All are hollow built, but only the 'versa' series of rods has the reverse taper butt ( apart from one other rod that I know you know about

)
First appearing on a spinning rod made just for the Milwards management to use on their jolly japes it was later marketed as the Spinversa and I think even this early reverse taper butt was designed by Terry Thomas who worked for them then as well as for Anglia Television.
Certainly he designed the later composite Swimversa and it's Twin Taper Tip and I think he's supposed to have designed the Craftversa.
I don't know if BV had any input into the rod, but he did describe it as " A rod near to perfection"
