Very nice Colonel, on the 'Lost World of Mr. Hardy' DVD there is a 15 minute slot of Edward actually making his rods.

I have it on DVD and I've watched it several times. It is a truely fantastic film. I own not one Item made by Hardy, or Edward Barder, or Chris lythe, even - both featured in that film- but it leaves you with a huge sense of admiration for all three, but particularly Hardys. A firm that in it's heyday had "can do" mentality in abundance.

I ended up watching it again tonight because of this post, going all the way back to the Empire days when British manufacturing was at it best. Like you Haydn I own none of the products in the film but what a splendid way to while an hour away on a dark, damp and cold Sunday evening.

Somebody got a lovely buy yesterday. I don't think the listing even made 24 hrs before sale. A Barder Merlin, a Barder Venables Ash net and a Youngs Purist. Buy it now £1300. A fair price I thought.

Missed that one!
