Need info on a ESS The S.F.T.S. Sydney rod

Post by WhiskeyFishing »

I have a 3 piece with extra tip 9ft Edgar Sealey & Sons "The S.F.T.S. Sydney" fly rod and would like to see if anyone knows anything about it. I've looked everywhere online but have found nothing on this S.F.T. S. Hoping to learn the approx year it was made and offered as well as quality, approx value and what the S.F.T.S. abreviation stands for.

Thanks for any and all help, Rob

Judging by the rings and fittings it is an early rod and it could be a renamed FlyCaster or similar made for export. I seem to remember a Vaal rod which was made for export to South Africa. Just guessing though.

From the logo it is earlier than the mid 1960s. The rings look older.
