Wonderful news Brigadier I know the seller well a personal friend of CY which I can guarantee 100% as I must admit I have bought similar from the same source with the same provenance as you know I did check with the man himself about both items

The rod arrived today ... and I have to say that, given Mr. Yates' reputation for being 'hard on rods' it has exceeded my expectations !!!

Tight ferrules ... die straight ... no chipping to the varnish ... totally present and unmarked "Avocet. B James and Son. England" transfers ... I couldn't ask for more.

I will treasure this rod ... but will use it !!!

Really pleased for you, AC. In my very humble opinion it would be great shame if the rod (any rod) was not used for its intended purpose. I'm sure some early summer tench would be over the moon to be landed on such fine seasoned cane.
