Hardy fly rod identification.

Post by Benj1dog »

Hi, i need help in identifying a hardy fly rod. It is 3 piece , possibly with a second shorter top piece. Main rod is whipped in burgundy, alternate top piece in burgundy changing to bottle green. Fitting is aluminium on a black tube numbered e21560. With a scre removable aluminium collar at the bottom. Top and bottom ringa are agate lined, rest just plain loop.

Any help in identifying the model greatly received.

e21560 = 1931
The second shorter top is probably why good fly rods always came with a spare tip!
Is it all split bamboo?
Total length assembled?

May be able to narrow it down to one of half a dozen possibles, but someone will likely recognise it from a picture.

Hi yes it is all split cane , middle section , has been damaged and repaired at some time, but seems strong, was covered in some horrible whipping. I will measure overall length and get some pictures.
Thx

Well that cuts down the possibilities dramatically!

J.J. Hardy No.1 Dry Fly (9') - probably has their special "lockfast" ferrules - a spiral locking mechanism.

The Keith Rollo - picture here: http://www.geocities.jp/f_h_nobu1/memo1 ... zumi01.jpg

Do we have a winner?

Hmm, does not have the spiral ferules just straight forward ones, reel mount same as first link , but cork handle sgape tapers toward rod with conical brass ferule .
